Brandon Balatbat and James Ryan each netted one goal as St. Peter’s Prep, No. 8 in the NJ.com Top 20, fell to No. 5 Pope John, 3-2, at the Pershing Field Ice Rink in Jersey City last Thursday.

Mike Canosa, Matthew Italiano, Thomas Pelliccio and Aidan Seborowski each had one assist while Dan Maher made 28 saves for Prep, which scored its first goal less than a minute and a half into the game.

The Marauders now have the eighth-seed for the upcoming Gordon Cup and will face top-seeded and No. 1 Don Bosco Prep today at the Ice Vault in Wayne a 8:30 P.M.

On Tuesday, Prep will play fellow Jesuit school, Xavier, on the main ice at the Prudential Center at 7:30 P.M.
